We've covered rackets under 500 AED and the 500–1,000 AED band. This closes the trilogy, and it's the question we get most on WhatsApp once someone's ready to spend four figures: "is a 1,500 AED racket actually better, or am I just paying for the name?"

Honest answer: both, depending on which racket. Some of what you're paying for above 1,000 AED is real performance. Some of it — especially past 1,300 AED — is cosmetics, exclusivity, and a player's signature on the throat. Here's how to tell the difference, using current Bueno stock.

What actually changes above 1,000 AED

Three things genuinely change as you move up, and they're not marketing fluff:

Carbon weave and layup. Mid-tier rackets often blend fibreglass with a thinner carbon face. Above 1,000 AED you're typically into full carbon faces at higher weave counts (12K, 18K) — stiffer, more direct energy transfer, less power lost to frame flex. That's a real, feelable difference on contact.

Pro co-design tuning. Rackets like the NOX AT10 Genius line (Tapia), Adidas Metalbone (Galán), Bullpadel Neuron (Chingotto) and Babolat Viper 3.0 (Lebrón) aren't just endorsed — the balance point, flex, and weight distribution are tuned with the player. That tuning is genuinely different from a generic advanced frame with a pro's name stuck on it.

Core density and QC. Higher-tier frames use denser, more consistent EVA or dual-density foam cores, which shrinks unit-to-unit variance — two rackets of the same model feel more alike. At the budget end, that consistency is looser.

Who this tier is actually for

Advanced and competitive players who strike the ball cleanly most of the time, play multiple times a week, and have already outgrown a mid-tier frame's forgiveness. This is where honesty matters most. Our honest read: there is a real but small performance edge — marginally tighter QC, sometimes a refined resin finish — but the bulk of the price jump is exclusivity and cosmetics, not a leap in what the racket does for your game. Buy one because you want that specific edition, not because you think it will outplay the 1,100–1,270 AED version of the same shape.

Honest limits

Gains above roughly 1,200 AED are about fine-tuning, not transformation — the jump from a 700 AED racket to a 1,100 AED racket is far more noticeable than the jump from 1,100 AED to 1,700 AED. A well-fitted 900 AED racket in the right shape will still beat a mismatched 1,700 AED one; shape and balance matter more than the number on the price tag.
