Men's final: the #1s answer Brussels

Agustín Tapia and Arturo Coello beat Juan Lebrón and Leo Augsburger in the final — a statement, because Lebrón/Augsburger were the last pair to beat them, coming from a set down in Brussels in April. The tactical difference in Málaga: the #1s stopped feeding Lebrón's left-side aggression early, working Augsburger's side with slow, low bandejas and saving the fireworks for net exchanges — where Coello's reach and Tapia's hands are still the best one-two in the sport. For Lebrón and Augsburger, reaching a P1 final confirms they're the third force this season — and the pair most likely to spoil someone's Major.

Women's final: Brea & Triay reassert

World #1s Delfi Brea and Gemma Triay beat Paula Josemaría and Bea González in three sets — revenge that mattered, after Bea/Paula's three-title streak through Miami, Giza and Brussels. The three-set scoreline is the honest story: these two pairs are separated by a handful of points a match, and the Paris Major in September will likely decide the year between them.

What to watch next

Pretoria P2 (27 Jul–2 Aug): P2s are where chasing pairs bank points — watch whether Galán/Chingotto enter to pressure the #1s' lead. London P1 (3–9 Aug): the last P1 before Madrid and the Paris Major; form here usually carries. Then the autumn builds to the Gulf swing — Kuwait, and Dubai P1 on 9–15 November.
